CALL FOR ABSTRACTS (EXTENDED)

The 3rd Pan-Pacific Technology Enhanced Language Learning (PPTELL 2020) is a platform of exchange for researchers, educators, and practitioners on the theory and/or application of state-of-the-art uses of technology to enhance language learning. Through intra-disciplinary and interdisciplinary interactions, this conference strives to promote diverse forms of cooperation between academia and industry to ensure thriving development of TELL. This year’s theme will focus on how technology enhanced language learning benefits from the prevalence and ease with which we can communicate and connect globally. Each of us is more than ever connected with the world, each other, our contexts and environments, our devices, and with data. How has this connectivity influenced technology-enhanced language learning? We invite all papers on the concerns of TELL but especially those that connect with our theme for the year.

Topics of interests include, but are not limited to:

PPTELL 2020 sincerely invites abstract submission that shows the originality of theories or practical works focusing on global connectivity in technology

enhanced language learning with the following topics related to the theme

Expanding Global Horizon:

Constructivism in TELL
Cognitivism in TELL
Personalized language learning methods including

1) learning style and strategy,
2) cognitive needs (as for struggling learners), and 3) learning anxiety and motivation

Affordances and constraints of collaboration in mixed reality for language

learning/teaching

  • ▪  Artificial intelligence for language learning/teaching

  • ▪  Affordances and constraints of collaboration in mobile assisted language

    learning/teaching

  • ▪  Social activities in TELL

  • ▪  The roles of emotions, habits, and the chronology of experienced events

    in TELL
    The deployment of global connectivity in TELL with the following

    directions of investigation:

1) Effective, efficient or autonomous learning 2) Engaging, flexible or adaptive factors
3)
Learners’ creativity

Types of submissions

The PPTELL 2020 conference features three types of presentations. 1) Oral presentation:

The author’s presentations should report on original research related to

TELL. The duration of a presentation is 20 minutes including time for

discussion.

2) Poster presentation:

Presentations should contain images and information that attendees can

read and which can be explained by the presenters. The duration of a poster

session is one hour. Presenters should be present for the duration of their

schedule time.

3) Technology Showcase:

Technology Showcase presentations take place in a more information

settingall presenters in the room presenting simultaneously while

attendees may approach to discuss topics individually. The Showcase lasts

for 1.5 hours. Demonstration-based presentations work well as Showcase

presentations.

Paper submission

A submitted abstract is restricted to 500 words and is suggested to follow the organization below:

1) Title of the abstract,

2) Content, and 3) References.

The due date of abstract submission is November 30th, 2019. Authors will

receive the notification with reviewers’ comments by January 15th, 2020.

Abstracts should be submitted in both MS Word and PDF formats online

to Upload abstract (PDF version / MS Word version).

Prior to submission, please read the conference templates (PDF version / MS Word version) carefully. Submissions must not be published previously or

under consideration for publication. They will be double-blind peer-reviewed. The review process will focus on whether there are original and systematic contributions through theoretical and empirical methods.

The authors of the accepted abstracts will be invited to submit their full papers for publicationin theconference proceedingswith ISBN number. The deadline for submission of full papers is February 15th, 2020.
